Hi,
we are currently using TC 3.1.1 for Ehcache and Quartz, and pretty happy with it.
However we would like to extend the TC scope to Web Sessions replication (via Tomcat6).
Can we simply use the 3.1.1 version we have, or should we upgrade to 3.3?
If we would have to upgrade to 3.3, does the operation requires to stop both TC servers at the same time (mirrored, active / standby)?
Or the "automagic" happens again...
Thank you,
Regards.

Yeah Web-sessions have been supported for a while. So you can use it with 3.1.1. See http://www.terracotta.org/confluence/display/docs/Terracotta+Documentation+Archive
Of course upgrading to 3.3. means getting the latest and greatest...
Wrt the 3.1-> 3.3 upgrade, I believe there are no guarantees of backward compatibility across major versions. So the safest thing to do would be to start with a fresh Data store and restart processes.

zeeiyer is correct. Backward compatibility was introduced in 3.3 with the Terracotta Toolkit.
From here on out, major / minor versions should remain compatible across releases unless we announce otherwise. In fact, there is now Terracotta TCK which validates releases remain API / interface compatible so we know before we release.
Cheers,
