Say a terracotta server has 5 clients and runs in persistence mode.
Now, one of the clients is restarted. it will be allowed to reconnect within the client reconnect window.
However, if the client is shutdown for maintenence for several hours - how can it reconnect?

The client reconnect window is for recovering from a temporary loss of network for a running client - not for clients that are shutdown or fail.

If you shutdown a client, when you bring it back it will connect to the cluster and fault it's state back in.

Client shutdown includes a disconnect protocol, BTW. This is how we make it possible to identify a burp from a shutdown.
