I am working on two .Net projects that benefit from distributed caching.

I am currently prototyping with Membase, however one project in particular would benefit from local replica's.

A while back I understood that Ehcache was capable of Replicated Caching (Ehcache Server?) and that C# clients were in the offing.

The ability to replicate between datacenters would be a bonus, eventual consistency is fine.

What is the current state of play with Ehcache and .Net support?

For .NET you can use the stand alone cache server via REST or SOAP. Here is a link that discusses multi-datacenter replication, http://ehcache.org/recipes/wan.html.
